Windermere is Englands largest lake, up to 1 mile wide and 10 1/2 miles long. Fishing is free although access to the banks is limited. WADAA have 3 miles of private shoreline on the west bank south of the ferry. Brown trout are still present but Windermere is now regarded as primarily a pike fishery.
