Cound Trout Fishery

This old sand and gravel pit of 26 acres is fed by an underground spring with depths of up to 65 ft. The water is crystal clear all year round and produces some tremendous fishing. The Lake is stuffed full of natural food including many Insects and a large population of Coarse Fish, which once spawned create millions of fry for the trout to feed on, hence many large over wintered fish. The lake record is 26lb 4oz. We are building a cage for the coming year which should produce blues up to 30lb plus.

Opening Hours

The Fishery is open all year except for Christmas Day. We open at 8.00am and close when it?s dark .

Fish

Brown trout, Rainbow trout and Blue trout. (Tiger trout, brook trout and Artic char soon).

Stocking Policy

The lake is stocked every week to maintain its 3500 fish from 1 1/2 to 20 lb +, Browns, Rainbows and Blues. (Tigers, Brookies and Artic Char to be stocked in the coming year). We have a large fish policy of 100 Double?s which is maintained by our own Trou
