Jubilee Lakes
Redworth, Darlington, County Durham, DL2 2UHThere are two lakes. The larger lower lake 2.5 acres and the smaller upper lake 1.5 acres. Water is supplied from rock strata beneath the fishery and therefore comes in at a steady 10 - 11 degrees. This has the effect of buffering temperatures in the lake keeping it cooler in the summer (when many fisheries are fed from warm river water) and reversing the effect in winter - keeping the lakes warmer. As a consequence the lakes don't often freeze, though we recommend anglers phone to check - just in case! Both lakes are stocked the same with rainbows from 2.5lb to 24lb 10oz (largest caught to date). Browns are resident and are not weighed though we estimate they are from 2 - 5lb with some being considerably larger. In the September 2005 issue of Trout Fisherman anglers themselves voted us "Best Small Stillwater" and No. 6 in the "Top 50 Fisheries" in the country.
